Day 10 - You get a waterfall! You get a waterfall! Everybody gets a waterfall!

Glad that those are free, I'm not Oprah Winfrey...

Today was another long drive from Egilsstaðir to Höfn and there was one very present theme for the whole drive, Eurovision Song Contest. Just kidding, this trip was mostly about waterfalls, as the usual suspect, the stunning landscape, was hiding behind thick layers of fog. Although, listening to the radio, you could come to the conclusion that the only topic of interest in Iceland was ESC. And who could fault them with this, erm, unique entry that translates to "Hatred will win" (yep, it's a protest song, watch on your own risk)

I could have sworn there was a glacier here, not even a minute ago

Fortunately, the country as a whole and the south in particular is littered with waterfalls. So here's a selection of those that happend to be located along my way and had the honor to be named and cataloged (because driving along a mountain side you tend to have about two waterfalls per kilometer).

Fardagafoss

The following was pure luck that I managed to get to it (I knew where it was, the fog was just so thick on the mountain pass on the way to it that I was short of turning around).

Gufufoss

This nice fella, Folaldafoss, worked really hard to get the car dirty, as you have to drive a gravel road to reach it that is kept quite wet by numerous trickles of water running across the road.

To be honest, I have no idea what the following is called. It was jast one of the nicer ones along the road, that happened to be located near a rest area (or is the rest area located near the waterfall???)

Other marvels along this trip would have contained a beautiful coast line, marvellous black beaches and a first glimpse of the Vatnajökull. Don't get me wrong, they are definitely there (unless the whole tourism industry is in on a gigantic conspiracy), there just was no way of seeing them today.
